So my 25th birthday is Thursday and Memorial Day is around the corner. You may be asking what those two dates have in common.... I WILL BE BROKE - NO MONEY TO SPEND... It is my 25th birthday and all I can think about is, please Lord do not let me spend a lot or any money because GOD knows I can not afford it. I would love to do something extravagant but I can not afford it. My friends want to go to dinner and a lounge but who can afford that and of course I would need a new outfit (shoes, hair, dress, necklace). Memorial Day - my friends are going on vacation. I can not afford to go. My debt has me so wrapped up that I do not have spare cash for anything. No money for hotel, food, clothes, and transportation.
SO you might be asking.... Why is the girl complaining so? I am not complaining I am just giving thanks to GOD for allowing me to learn these lessons at the age of 25 instead of 30, 40, 50, or even 60.
UPDATE: I might be working for the after school program at my school for the remaining 6 weeks at $30 an hour. The director of the after school program shouted it in the hallway but she has so much to remember who knows, but I am surely going to to talk to her tomorrow in the early AM. The Math School Based Professional Developer asked me last Thursday to give up my Thursday evenings from 4- 7 for the next 6 weeks to complete a master teacher math program. I will earn $900 for my time and also receive a $325 grade level math certificate for any supplies I see fit. Man that made me so happy. Lastly, I applying for a grant from ING, hopefully I will get it. I need the money for a project next year.
SUMMER - No job as of yet. I am still working on it. I have a phone interview to return on Monday.
Better finance update later, three paychecks this month. I plan on really tackling some things.

It finally happened!!!!
Well readers, I finally got called a BITCH by a third grader. I knew it was coming but who knew it would be by a random student whom I was not even having a conversation with. And you guessed it... I lost it!!! He had to know that speaking to me that way was completely unacceptable and that he should save that mouth for his momma. My principal was actually impressed by the way I handled the situation (it never hurts to be on her good side)... With the students at my school sometimes taking the high road or being the adult is not possible, you have to break it down in the "my momma does not care what I do in school" language and let them know I do not play that sh*t, save the foolishness for home.........
Update: My first graders are doing great. I have them reading on the third grade level and we are working on multiplication and addition and subtraction with regrouping simultaneously. My principal wants me to keep them for second grade. This move has pissed off the other second and first grade teachers because they will have first and kindergarten next year. Ha!!! Oh well!!! I am trying to become the schools Talented and Gifted teacher (our 36 year veteran is finally retiring and she loves me as I do her).....
Oh I forgot this is a finance blog too!!!! Well again, emergency fund back to $100. IF my old car didn't die I would not have had to use all available funds to get some transportation. However I am still actively paying down debt.
CC1 - paid off ($1200)
CC2 - $280 remaining ($500)
CC3 - $2000 remaining ($2500)
CC4 - $700 remaining (1000) - has 0% interest until June, not going to make it...
CC5 - $2500 frozen until January 09 (0% interest) - (will start paying off in September)
Certification class - paid off ($321)
Total remaining $5480 (total owed as of Jan 08 - $8021)
I was going to pay off CC4 and CC2 but having to withdraw my emergency fund earlier this month means that my emergency trip to NC to see a sick little cousin means no rebuilding of emergency fund and no paying off two credit cards.... (I am really hoping to rid myself of CC2 by the end of May.) My goal by September is CC4 and CC2 paid off and CC3 to have a remaining balance of $1000. Snowflaking really works for me. CC2 has direct debit so I trick myself into thinking a payment was not made, and I am tackling the hell out of CC2 the company already called me to discuss a credit limit increase and I politely said thank you, knowing that the credit card is frozen in my mother's deep freezer 5 hours away!!! LOL
Oh!! Last but not least being a homeowner is very interesting. I have what I feel is a centipede infestation (I maybe kill 1 a day). But I scream every time and wish that my step dad would come kill it (like he did when I lived at home)... I am going to fog the hell out of my house. I hate bugs.... ,.............. My parents are buying me a dehumidifier from Sears, I can not wait to go pick it up. ( I know you are thinking I am a spoiled baby but if I am scared how can I sleep???? lol) DON'T JUDGE ME!!!!
Thanks for reading!!!1

Part Time Job
I have been trying to find a part time job. I tried listing myself as a tutor and I did not receive any responses. I applied some tutoring places and was denied due to lack of openings or the fact that I will not have certification until December. I tried another organization but they want you to do in home tutoring of which I am just not comfortable with doing.
I applied to some retail stores in the mall near my school and was denied 1. too much experience/ education, 2. no daytime availability.
What is a girl to do? I need a part time job, the extra cash is necessary.
Any suggestions, I live in Maryland....???? I am thinking of just going to McDonald's...
