I received my first check from my after school job and it was for a grand total of $25.00. I believe that this is for the one day that I worked but who really knows since it was a personal check without a stub of any sort. We shall see if the following pay period equals more cash. I guess it is $25 more than I had but it will not do. I am actually going to hold onto it and use it to snowflake my credit card with the lowest balance.
The plan
Try to take two of the three remaining teacher certification courses this summer ($600)
Pay off two credit cards ($1000)
Pay off old university ($800)
If I succeed at these goals I will only have a remaining $2000 of debt outside of mortgage and student loans......
Keep all other bills up to date.
Oh, I guess in order to do this I would need a summer job. I am going to get on this tomorrow. Update about summer plans coming soon!!!!!

Lordy you and these jobs. I work like 5 jobs on a good day, my friends think i'm crazy but hey, it works for me (oddly)...and bills need to be paid right.
25 bucks is better than nothing. I tried to get back an overdraft fee of 38 dollars today from my bank and they only gave me 28 but hey, I can live on 28 dollars for a good four days or so.
Good luck to you!
(P.S. I deleted my other comment because I wasn't signed in, oops!).
The personal check thing I find questionable. Were taxes and such taken out? When you're paid by personal check or cash, it seems like an under the table transaction. Your plan to get two of those tests done, pay off two cards and the school sounds great. Good luck finding a summer job, now is just the time to be looking since colleges are going dormant for the summer.
Like Jim, I'm wondering if taxes were taken out of that personal check. You don't want to be paying taxes on that money in April of next year. Check it out!
Hey, I just wanted to commend you on doing such a good job! You're making great progress, keep it up.
